Looks like Zinc Oxide is the champion! I see the latest EWG report on sunscreens list their top recommendations and all contain physical sunscreens. I agree with Erik Kreider about Titanium Dioxide though and far prefer to obtain a sunscreen with Zinc Oxide.
UVA is the other factor to consider when choosing, as to obtain a sunscreen without a qualified level of UVA protection opens you up to potential extra deep level burning. Think of this - with good UVB protection you will stay out in the sun longer than you would with no protection at all. Because your skin is not getting burnt, you feel safe. However, all the while the UVA rays are doing their deep level damage thing, but at a higher than normal level than if you were wearing no protection! If you had no protection you would feel the burning sun's rays sooner and get out of the sun.
Zinc Oxide provides that crucial UVA protection as well as UVB, plus it has wider spectrum protection than Titanium Dioxide.
The other factor you didn't mention is how Zinc Oxide has been used on babies skin for decades or more. If its safe for babies, it must be safe for all of us with sensitive skins surely? It has great healing properties too.
